Hi Troop! We have had generous support and have scholarship funds available for:

  1. Troop Dues

  2. Troop activities

  3. Troop uniforms

Our general principle is we never want finances to be a reason why someone couldn’t participate in our troop.

We do have at least 3 fundraisers each year where you can earn trailmen points to pay for all troop related fees. See more here

As a Troop, we are committed to making  a way for every Trailman to participate in every activity he’s spiritually, physically, and emotionally  equipped to engage in, with a goal of continued growth in each of these areas. We want to make sure that finances are never a barrier to participation, and so the Troop offers several opportunities for families to engage in all activities:

Our primary means of equipping Trailmen and families to reduce out-of-pocket costs is our Annual Fall Fundraiser. Each fall at the beginning of the new Troop Year, volunteers work with an outside company to provide a high-quality, good value product for Trailmen to sell in the community.

In past years, we’ve seen several Trailmen stretch themselves and grow in hard work, communication  skills, and personal responsibility. Many we’ve seen enjoy the satisfaction of achieving personal sales goals, serving as ambassadors in their community, and enjoying the process of getting out of their “comfort zone” to take orders and follow through on delivery, with repeat customers year over year.

Traditionally, we have sold Christmas Wreaths and other greens each fall, typically with a six-week  sales window and delivery for wreaths the week of Thanksgiving or before. Several industrious  Trailmen have paid for their entire activity year using points they’ve earned, especially as they’ve built  up a list of previous customers.

Trailman Points are awarded to each Trailman using a tax-compliant formula that result in points they  can use for annual local troop registration, campouts and other activities throughout the year, and uniform gear – at a rate of $1 for each Trailman Point earned. These points cannot be redeemed  for cash and revert to the Troop when a Trailman leaves the program.

In addition to earning Trailman Points, when Troop MN-9871 has run a surplus, we have made  scholarship funds available on an as-needed basis for Trailmen and their families. One or more Trailmen have explicitly donated their points for the specific help of other Trailmen as scholarships.
